Spring Drive 2024 Marion, NC
This year’s drive was to Marion, NC. SO many roads to choose from in a 2 hour radius around this community, it was a challenge selecting routes. The weather wasn’t optimal for top-down driving, however the roads were still fun. Friday’s drive we drove on US 276, part of the Copperhead, then on up to NC 209, the Rattler to Hot Springs, NC for lunch. Then crossing a valley on a fantastic road with no formal name, we drove on towards Marion and went down the infamous Devils Whip, NC 80. There were about 14 cars and we had 4 cars that were from the Ohio Buckeye Miata Club join us.
Saturday’s drive consisted of more of the Devil’s Whip, a sweet treat at Maple’s, the TN Welcome Center, a drive on Old Blowing Rock Hwy and lunch in Blowing Rock. Wipers were on and off throughout the day. None the less, great roads, food and fellowship were enjoyed by all. Sunday driving back toward the Triad, the Diamondback was taken, in the fog! Always an adventure and never a dull moment when zooming on these events.
